  • Selecting "Launch Mob Wars" from the right click menu, or
  • Clicking the notification balloon when updates are reported

2. Checking For Updates

By default, Mob Wars Snitch will automatically check for new updates every 10 minutes.  This interval can be adjusted using the "Configure" menu option as discussed below.  Users can force a check for updates at any time by selecting the "Check Now" menu option.

3. Resetting Update Status

Mob Wars Snitch will only pop a balloon and/or play a sound for the first new update it detects.  At that point, the Mob Wars Snitch icon in the taskbar changes from idle Idle Icon to notified Notified Icon.  All subsequent updates after the first one will result in the new update count being silently incremented.  This count is displayed when the user hovers over the Mob Wars Snitch icon in the taskbar with the mouse.

To reset Mob Wars Snitch's internal baseline count so that any further updates will result in a new balloon being shown and/or sound being played, simply select the "Reset Updates" option from the menu.  When this option is selected, Mob Wars Snitch fetches the current update count from the Mob Wars server and uses it as the new baseline count.  The Mob Wars Snitch icon then changes to idle Idle Icon.  Any new updates detected beyond this new baseline count will result in the icon changing to notified Notified Icon, and a new balloon being shown and/or sound being played.  Exact behaviour depends on individual user configuration, as discussed below.
